2020 was a troublesome year for all of us. Covid-19 has shaken up the world and has multiplied the suffering for people in areas of conflict and war. Henceforth BE-terna has decided to support Médecins Sans Frontières‘ life saving work in Yemen with this year’s Christmas donation. The aim is to offer medical care for people in one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world.
We have been donating to the excellent work of "Médecins Sans Frontières" for several years now. Through their help in various crises around the world, they bring a piece of confidence back to the affected. says Christian Kranebitter, CEO of BE-terna.
After six years of war In Yemen, the health system lies in ruins. While in late 2019 de-escalation efforts succeeded in bringing Yemen to one of its “quietest periods” since the start of the conflict, the country entered a new spiral of escalating conflict at the beginning of 2020. So far, the war in Yemen could have directly killed over 112,000 people. Today, more than 14 million people are in acute need of help. In addition to war and violence, more and more people are suffering from the side effects of the war. The basic social services are disrupted, and the health system is extremely weakened. Médecins Sans Frontières works in Ibb governorate and eleven other places across the country to provide emergency, surgical and hospitalization care. BE-terna is proud to contribute to the support of the destroyed health system and emergency interventions, to reduce the morbidity and mortality rates among the war-affected
