New Planning Optimization Add-in

Discover the power of the new Planning Optimization Add-in feature for master planning in Dynamics 365. It enables master planning calculations to run outside of Supply Chain Management and its Azure SQL database.

Benefits:

  • Reduce workload on customer environment, no deadlock in client environment​.
  • Faster master planning, from hours down to minutes.​
  • Planning runs are possible even during office hours, allowing planners to react promptly to demand or parameter changes.
  • Introduces new features such as enabling multivendor sourcing.

You can still continue using the old master planning but notice that this Add-in will eventually replace it. This depends on your Dynamics.

New Add-in - How does it work?

Sends signal to planning optimization when master planning is to run​
Planning optimization asks connector for data from client environment​
Planning optimization runs calculations in cloud environment​
Sends data results back to client environment​
Planning optimization sends signal to client that calculations is complete

Criteria

No extra license cost for planning optimization, it is included in the current license​. (Microsoft will announce when there is)
Client must be running Supply Chain Management on an LCS enabled high-availability environment, tier 2 or higher and version must be 10.0.7 or later version​
System has to be set up for Power Platform integration
