The UP GROUP currently has seven locations throughout Switzerland and is a pioneer in the sector of working platform leasing and the powered access industry. Moving ahead with its digitalisation agenda, in autumn 2019 the Swiss company decided, in cooperation with BE-terna, to roll out the Infor M3 ERP solution and the Equipment industry solution based on it from 2020 onwards.
The UP GROUP has specialised in the rental, sale and servicing of machinery, equipment, and tools for working at height since it was founded in 1979. Its in-house rental fleet, which now includes about 1,300 machines, has something for almost any powered access issue. The increasing complexity involved with this led to the need for a new administrative system.Deciding which software solution to implement within the UP GROUP was easy for the Swiss company; that’s because it was already familiar with how Infor M3 worked and knew it was rated highly in terms of user-friendliness. BE-terna's special industry solution for the equipment industry attracted particular praise. Jürgen Schmitt, Head of IT at UP AG, expressed satisfaction with the results:
In BE-terna we have a partner we can communicate with at eye level. In particular, we were very impressed with the degree of functional coverage offered by Infor M3; even the standard version meets almost all of our requirements.
The aim of launching the system is to cut down on pre-existing stand-alone solutions and, in doing so, to reduce duplicated working steps, while at the same time eliminating interface problems. Going forward, BE-terna’s Equipment solution will map out all of the rental, sales, and service processes of the UP GROUP in one platform, thereby ensuring a uniform IT landscape. In addition, the company will have access to all the relevant contracts and the complete service history with just one click in the integrated dashboard. This overview is also essential for keeping track of upcoming services for various lifting platforms, identifying any due repairs ahead of time and preparing and assigning service technicians more efficiently for their upcoming tasks.
BE-terna and its industry solution have provided the UP GROUP with a future-proof business software solution that covers all of its business areas and one that can fulfil specific requirements too. The go-live at the site in Affoltern am Albis is planned for the start of next year, with the roll-out to other locations set to follow shortly afterwards.
